Found this beaut on my local Craigslist and I am very interested in buying it. However the seller is asking an arm and a leg. I do not contest that it is in mint condition I'm just wondering if you guys think that makes it worth the 12k the guy is asking?

No freaking way would I pay that much for that! The guy will be selling it for a LONG time. Its honestly worth maybe 5k at the highest, its not a 60's muscle car its an 86 pick up and its not even the desierable 85 with SFA. Also has the 22r-no fuel injection, no power windows or locks..

Its a barebones truck the guy thinks he is selling a corvette

Well here in Washington state 3rd gen Toyotas do go for decent money if they are in good shape. I do tend to agree that he is asking far too much however. Would love to hear some other opinions.

Not for 90k miles, that's insane. The only way someone would pay that much if it had like sub-20k miles, and that would be a collector. It's pretty, but not worth it by a longshot. 84 isn't old enough to be a collector item yet and 90k miles it too much to justify paying that much for an engine that will need some work soon.

It may be worth that much to him and it is no doubt in beautiful condition. But I doubt anyone will be stupid enough to give him 12k for a PICKUP that is 27 years old. You can easily find a 3rd Gen, Sport, 4x4 4runner with a SC for that much. I just saw one go with 80k on the clock down in Portland.

Err, yeah, sorry typo. Like Dinardy said, for $13k you can buy a Taco with a 3.4L and a supercharger that puts out 220+ HP for the same price. One guy on here had his dyno'd for over 240 HP with just a supercharger and a methanol injection kit.

Yeah I'm a little partial to 22r/re engines myself. The 3.4 just hogs gas from what I understand. I'm just interested in what the guy is thinking at that range. Is it simply a "honey you have to sell the toyota" "Ok babe I'll put it up on craigslist" situation where he has it listed that high because he doesn't want to sell it?

Yeah i agree with everyone that previously posted he's selling a 86 pickup for 13k that isn't sr5, not fuel injection, no power windows, and doesn't have a sfa, and the ac isn't working.

That's a pretty clean truck, wow. I doubt he will ever get $12k for that truck, but I'd put money on someone buying it for at least $8k maybe more. There is someone out there for every price range. Might not happen very fast, but eventually yes it could sell that high if the right buyer truly wants it. He's probably not even in a rush to sell, just threw out a number to see what kind of interest there is.

Overpriced to some is a bargain to others.

If that is the truck someone is looking for, the price becomes irreverent.

is it worth it or not ? I get this question in my shop ALL the time
maybe to YOU it's not , but to someone it might be .
I have customers in my shop spending thousands and thousands of $$$ resurecting there old truck with all there memmories attached . or maybe just a truck they have aways wanted ..

is a restored 68 mustang, camero or corvette worth a 100 grand .. not to me , but to someone it is .. maybe it is to you ?

eventually I believe the market will support such $$ for nice toyota trucks as the generations get older , just like they now do for muscle cars for the baby boomers

It's an unmolested truck - aside for the cheesy TRD sticker - that is in excellent, unrestored condition. Worth more than most of you here think, and as someone else said, if you find a vehicle that has everything you were looking for, the price isn't the issue, the condition of the vehicle is.

Well said. It's getting hard to find these older trucks in good, well-maintained condition. It might take him awhile, but it wouldn't surprise me if it sold for over 10k.
