i need honest purchasing advice

A buddy of mine has a 92 toyota pickup. He told me it needs an engine (they tried repetitively to find a replacement engine and couldnt.) He is selling it for $1000. It has 8 inches of lift, and 38s on it. Do you think it would be a good buy despite the need for a motor? The rest of the truck is solid

good and cheap almost never go hand in hand. do you want this as a daily driver or as a toy?

if you can rebuild it yourself, go for that route. if not try and find a local reputable engine builder. theres a couple people who reman the 3.0 but its not very cheap. any idea what youd be able to spend on a new motor?
