Well I'm trying to figure out what to do. I currently own two 4runners on is a stock 85 in good condition inside and out. The other is an 86 that has lots of mods lifted on 36" iroks. I've currently have the 86 up for sale but have been pondering some other options.

Option #1: Sell the 86 and build the 85 to look alot like this


Locked front & rear on 33's with 5.29's or 4.88's 33's bumpers, sliders, paint, tint, hysteer, bla bla bla

Option #2: Sell the 85 and finish the 86 wich would involve lowering 2 or more inches cutting the fenders out to fit the tires after being lowered adding a stearing stabalizer, redo some wiring and that sort of thing.

Option #3: Do a body swap between the two 4runners and then still have to lower 2 or more inches add stearing stabalizer, redo some wiring and that sort of thing.

Option #4: Swap everything I want (lift, tires, axles, ext) from the 85 to the 86 and use the 85 stuff to make the 86 back to stock with the exception of the SFA.

At the end of this I need to get rid of at least one of these rigs. I like having a rig with a straight body (clean looking). I'd like something I can take camping on 2-3 hour trips (one way).

Yeah it sure is and I'd be willing to ship if your interested. Might be willing to drop asking price to acomidate shipping charges.

 

Tough choice man.... My advice is go with what you really want.... anything else would be a compromise and you'd always be thinking what if.

 

If your goal is 33" tires, build the 85. You need to run a minimum of 3" suspension lift to make high steer work, and with 3" I'd run a 35" tire with some cutting. The ultimate 33" tire setup would be stock suspension with tubbed body work. You can probably set the rear up with 63" chevies off a 2wd truck without the overload leaf. That should have it sitting close to level with the stock front.

 

Ok, on the chevies, I'm leaning towards advising the 4WD 4+1 setup opposed to the 2wd 3+1 setup from the fact that I managed to bend the 3+1 on mine... very similar to how I used to bend the toyota springs.

 

Thanks for the advise I'm thinking if I keep the Iroks I want to go with only 3" lift and cut everything else.

 

The 85 is really clean, but the color isnt, lol.
You could probably make the 85 very nice with the money you get from the 86, but it seems like your having trouble selling the 86? Do you do hard wheeling bc i used to care about the condition of my body till i went through 2 fenders a door and a hood. If you wheel a lot, and hard keep the 86, if not then go with the 85.

 

I actually have someone interested in the 86 but I'm not sure I'm want to take what they are offering. Anyway thanks for the opinion it gives me a little something to think about.

 

Well guys I've decided to continue with the sale of the 86 and build the 85 on 33's or 35's. I want something with a good straight body that's nice and clean that I can take on a long camping trip without any worry. At the same time I want something that's plunty capable off road and fun to wheel and won't break every time I take it out. I think the 85 is the best choice for what I want to do plus I think it will be a fun build. Thanks for everyone's opinions.

 

I saw your for sale ad for the 85, did you decide to go a different route?

 

I'm putting both up for sale and whichever sells first I'll keep the other.

 

So the 86 finally sold? I saw the thread over at TTORA.com. You gonna have the 85 ready for our Cass run? If you need any help getting it ready let me know. I have a decent array of hand and air tools.

Also, FYI I may be selling my 33" ProComp muds here soon. I am going to try and step up to 35s before the run, hopefully
