New Wheelin Rig

Well, I went through with it today. I've been thinking about getting a new wheelin rig to build, and was leaning towards a 96-98 4Runner... Then I started thinking about having to SAS it and everything else... Then I started thinking about what already has a front solid axle, has 4 doors, has leather, and is not a 4cyl... It dawned on me I should get an FZJ80... So, today I picked one up. Its a 94 with the 4.5L I6, auto, factory e-lockers front and rear, center diff lock, TJM front bumper, BFG A/T 33"s and the creature comforts newer cruisers are known for... How bout some pics:

Now, I've decided I cant do any hard wheeling, or even moderate wheeling, until I get sliders, and a good rear bumper with quarter protection. The plan is to keep this one semi nice. Some scratches are to be expected, but not huge dents or aggravated tree encounters, unlike the 87. And for those who are curious, I'm now leaning towards parting out the 87 and leaving nothing but part of a body and a frame... then as time and money allows, turn it into a competition rig... two seats, 1 big motor, 1 transfer, 2 big axles, and 4 big meats.... For the Cruiser, I plan on doing a 6" lift , regear the axles as steep as I can, putting some 37"s on it, and callin it a good general purpose wheelin rig!

I had to go about 170 miles to find this one, but the price was right, and so far I'm really happy with it... now just need some more money for some armor.

Nice man, I had a '95 with OME 2" and 33" tires w/ ARB front and rear and it was the best wheeler I've had. Never once got stuck in it. My uncle has one with 35's and a turbo, its fricken badass with ARB's front and rear with winch. There have been four of 'em in my family and we beat on them with no problems.

I got the e-lockers front and rear, so I'll take that. I'm really set on the 37"s. im pretty sure its goina be regeared to 5.29"s to help spin them, leave the e-lockers, and put a slee 6" lift on it... But who knows... thats several dollars down the road, first step is armor!

Very nice ride!
There is a thread on Mud where I got these pics from, I will have to look later again as I forget who made the bumper.

But I like the bumper very much.
The guy makes great stuff for Land Cruisers from what I read.

Corey, I like that bumper, I'm just not too sure if it will give me enough corner protection.... but I can also modify... any leads on who it was?

Not yet, and I was looking on Mud too earlier for it.
I just grabbed the pics from there too a week back.

It may have been on Expo.
It was for a roof top tent thread, I will have to search some more later.
He names the bumper maker in the thread.

It looks like a bumper that I found that you can buy in pieces and weld together yourself... (saving money), but I cant remember or find who or where it was.

Some guy named Luke made it, that is all the info I have.
You would have to drop the guy a PM.
