Can you edit the title to reflect the fact we actually have something planned now? (Mark Twain on the 9th?).

Leave the title as-is. Since I'm not bringing maps, the ???s seem appropriate.

I'm hoping there's still some good snow left on the ground. That will make our aimless wanderings fun. :xmas13:

Well, I hate it when you see threads that don't have an end.

So the appropriate ending to this is:

33x12.5s > 33x10.5s because they went further on the ice before busting through.

33x10.5s > ?? street tires because they climbed the hill...

driving around stump > driving into stump because you keep your sidewalls.

Other than that, there's not much to report on this trip. I guess it would be cool if Hans would post the pics...

On the 33x12.50s part, remember i was running no top, no tailgate, and almost nothing in the truck, where you were running full dress plus weight in the back...

In the back, I had 160lbs of tools, plus my subwoofer/amp (30 lbs?), sleeping bag (5 lb?) and clothes (15 lb?) for a total of 210 extra pounds.

You had your mom and Will, I think the two of them is > 210 lb., let me guess 325 lb (well maybe more, they had lots of coveralls on!). Then you probably had another 25 lb of tools...

You didn't have your spare (I did), what's that, 75lb? or the top, or the tailgate... top & tailgate probably run you what... 500 lbs together? I think that's a bit high but we'll go with that...

So I was running 2nd Gen +210 and you weighed in at 1st Gen -225.

we could get technical and add fuel as well... I had a full tank.

Also, mine weighs in at 3980 with a full tank, me, no spare, and nothing inside.
(gotta love having a truck scale at work)

John, What're you doing for new tires, or are you still rolling on the spare? Cory will sell you his 33's so he can go buy some 38's and a sawzall

Actually, I'm still on the spare. Debating on whether to buy 31's now and 33x12.5s with rims later, or try to make the spare last until I have $$ to buy wheels and tires.

If you're goina keep using it as a DD, buy 31's to drive on.... get a set of 33x12.50s with rims to go wheelin on later... problem with that is, now we'll never see you out wheelin..... :-(

That's exactly what I was thinkin' ... I'll probably stay with BFGs too, so I'll at least look like a mall crawler. Plus the 31s will help with torque/power when I decide to pull my trailer with it.

Never see me again? well, actually, you will. When Jen and I sat down to do our New Yrs resolutions, she surprised me by saying she wanted to be sure I took the time to go play :bigclap:
But being married is like politics, now I have to lobboy for $$ to go play WITH.

By the first week in Feb I should know what our tax situation is going to be this year. With Jen in school (tax writeoff) and the mortgage interest (tax writeoff), and Jen working for herself (without having taxes taken out), I really don't have any idea whether we'll be paying or receiving money back. Hopefully it will work out about even.

So if we don't have to pay any more taxes, I'll be able to buy the rims and 33s by March. Shoot, I might just run on the spare until then...

Not to change the subject, but since this is the only active thread in this section...

I Stopped by the neighbor's (2 doors down and behind me) last night, he's got a 90's something Cherokee up on Dunop Mud Rovers or something like that. The reason I stopped in though, was the "thing" in his garage.

A buddy he wheels with rolled his cherokee, so they everything off behind the windshield and above the wheelwells. They had some steel and a tube bender, a box of pizza and a few Buds out....

They were trying some cage building, but wasn't quite working for them... minimal tools plus how in the world do you put a roll cage on something that doesn't have a frame??? Oh yeah I guess you could weld it to the SAS, since it has a stinky one.

Anyway, I told 'em I'd give them a holler when we go out next time... maybe they'll have the jeep done by next summer!

Sounds like they'll be fun to wheel with!

Two sets of tires is good if you can swing it. That way you don't wear out your wheeling tires driving back and forth to st. louis.
