California just lost 1800 miles of trails

Through a forest service decision on the Route Designation plan, they are tentatively going to close over 1800 miles of trails in California. And this is only in Northern California, they will be doing all national forests soon.

Currently there are 2671.1 miles of roads and trails open to off road vehicles in northern california. Plan D was chosen and this is what it does:

In Alternative D 844.3 miles of roads and 217 miles of trails would allow for the public wheeled motor vehicle use, with cross country travel prohibited. Limited non significant forest plan amendments would be required for specific route segments and seasonal closure would be implemented on designated system trails and ML-2 roads from December 1 through April 30, based on soil moisture evaluations, rainfall, road or trail conditions and weather forecasts, that during this period areas are suitable for use, the forest supervisor has the authority to open those areas for a specified amount of time. Wheeled motor vehicle over the snow travel would be allowed on all designated routes with 24 inches of snow or more and not ground contact. Wheeled motor vehicles would me limited to within one vehicle length from the edge of the route surface for parking and dispersed camping.
Here is a FAQ on the subject:

Here is the Forest Service site with the info:

There will be public meetings held at various places around northern california where you can show your disapproval and possibly influence their final decision. I highly recommend everybody attend if you can.

Here are the meeting times and locations:

Remember, this is a nation wide plan which will eventually reach every single person on this website.

Yup. And this is why we need more hippy liberals in office... I wonder if we all go 4X4ing in Prius's and grow organic soy, and stop bathing if they would give us our trails back. And these are public lands. Aren't we part of the public? and the people that don't like off road trails can still use the forrests, too. Since only a small percentage of public lands are designated for off road use. See what they think when i get a prius stuck in the mud.

This is in incredibly ignorant post. I assume you post these delusions while sitting behind your computer and never do you attend any of the DNR land use meetings (in fact, I bet you've never contacted them atll) to find out who your real oppnents are (I could tell you but I've wasted enough time here) and what you could be doing about it. Just sitting there spreading lies (hippy liberals?), you make me sick.
Do you dress yourself in the morning?

they are colising roads here in AZ too. In Kingman they are putting up huge cattle fences to keep people out.

The only people who are advocating the closure of land ARE modern hippies.. In their Italian leather suits...

If I were closer I'd definitely attend.. Good luck.

This needs to be an issue in the up coming election "08"!!! I've said it before and I'll say it again. "The environmental special interest lobby is the largest lobby in Washington. A minority will take away the majority's rights if we don't push back !!!
