Where's the best spot to mount a rearview camera

I need to mount a rear view camera on my FJ. Not sure if over the license plate will give me the best results. It seems like maybe somewhere by the top brake light my be best. I tow a canoe and need to be able to see when I back down the boat ramps

I would say place one on both the far ends of the bumper that way you can see down both sides of the trailer and to the back of it at the same time.

What kind of camera is it? Is it the wireless link you can get from Costco, BJs or Sam's Club?

I have 1 cam installed under the license plate to see how close I am to the trailer when hooking up and a 2nd cam installed on the trailer bumper to see behind me when towing. Both cams are hardwired to my DVD player however I can only use 1 at a time since I have to disconnect the truck cam to plug-in the trailer cam.

My only regret regarding the trailer cam is that I should have had it mounted higher than the bumper because at night vehicle lights absolutely blind the system (during the day it works great). Having the trailer cam (which is wideangle) makes driving in heavy traffic a lot easier (especially for passing and knowing when to pull back in.

I installed the Toyota Rearsight Backup Camera (made by Rostra). The camera mounts under the bumper to the right of the hitch (at an angle). Seems to cover the rear fairly well. The back of the FJ is a tough place to mount a camera for the best angle since the license plate is off center and the spare hangs off the door.
