what insurance do you have?

One of the only things that kept me from getting a 600R a couple years back is my insurance was more than the bike... Granted, I had a bad driving recor at the time, but fortunately, no more points, and over 5 years since my last accident.
If I get one now being over 25, I get a MUCH lower rate. FWIW, little things like defensive driver's classes, MSF classes, etc do drop your rate.

I wouldn't have progressive again on a bet. Those mofo's are a bunch of shiesters.
Anyway, in MD if you finance it, you gotta cover it completely, so it was a no-go for me. Glad I didnt do it in retrospect. Having the busted wing and the beautiful weather we've had for the past two weeks... I'd have gone nuts.

Make sure whatever insurance company will insure a "modified" vehicle (ie lifted). Many won't tell you up front, so ask. I've been very happy with All State. They are fine with lifted vehicles. My 99 Runner is $350 per 6 months.

Yep,I have state farm and they don't care. In fact my agent told me that any modification that is visually above and beyond stock is insured for that.... So you might not get money back on a built to the tilt motor, but the lift, wheels, tires...all boast a great vehicle net worth...

I just called my insurance company again, and I was quoted around $1,300 every 6 months.
I asked why so high, and they add on a few things, but the add ons are less than $100 every 6 months.
This is also with a $500 deductible.
If I went with a $1,000 deductible, it would only lower it about $100 every 6 months.
Now for the add ons...
1. Rental car
2. Roadside assistance
3. Extended warranty
Number 3 I had not heard of before.
She explained it to me.
Instead of buying Toyota extended warranty which takes it past the normal 3 years, theirs is cheaper as you are not paying interest on it through your car payments, and it takes it out to 7 years or 100K miles.
Lets say the engine blows up after the Toyota warranty is done.
This add on covers it with a $250 deductible.
Not bad for peace of mind 'eh?
The insurance quote can still change to better or worse once they get a VIN # from me.

im paying less for the fj cruiser then i was for my ford focus svt , not by much , but still less. and i have 0 ded on comp and 250 on collision. im with state farm and have been for a long time . i beleive it was in the $656 per 6 month range. all i know is im paying , $225 a month for full coverage on the 95 4runner, full on the fj and minimum on my 72 f100 4x4. both the full coverage vehicles have 0/250 deductibles. i have one accident from 2002. and until the insurance company finds out no speeding tickets , i got one about 2 months ago in the focus svt.

That's something I never understood. Sure, the VIN gives specific info, but how is it I tell you 1990 4Runner SR5 with XYZ options, and you tell me one price, but then I give you the VIN and it goes up $50? Again leads me to believe the car insurance industry is a bunch of charlatans and frauds.
FWIW, Corey, that policy you were quoted may be a helluva deal. The trick- make sure that you have no deductible with the aftermarket warranty, and you can take it anywhere you want.
Toyota of NA offers extended warranties on many vehicles other than Toyotas, and they allow you to take it anywhere you want, without having to spend the money and then get reimbursed. FYI.

I have a 03 Acura TL, a 99 4runner, a 94 Acura Legend (liability only), and a 1990 Honda Accord (liability only). 31, Married, Homeowner, etc, blah, blah, blah. Good driving record for the most part, only a couple blemishes in the last 5 years.
$212 a month with Progressive.
Believe it or not, your CREDIT score plays into your insurance premium at times MORE than your driving record. If you have perfect credit, they won't even run a MVR on you - seriously. Go from a credit score of 800+ to a 600 or below and you'll see more of a difference in premium than if you went from a perfect driving record to having some at-fault accidents and speeding tickets (but not enough to get it cancelled).

Turd, it is just a $250 deductible, and that would be very little to pay if the engine went out.
I guess that is not to bad of a quote since it is a brand new rig.
Twice as high as when I carried full coverage on my 4Runner.
I only carry liability on it now.
But at one time I was paying about $1,200 a year and I had extra coverage up to $5k if the stereo got ripped off, and also the ARB and winch were covered from theft as well.
Also the reason it can be slightly high the first year is they say there are no crash test results yet.
This is with Geico.

unfortunatly those website insurance companies use your credit score to figure your quote , and mine not being the best crdit score was uoted a lot higher from gieco and the like, im sticking with state farm , ive got my home owners with them and they are local , any problems i know were to go.
so i figured my insurance out a year , at $225 a month for full o nthe fj with 0/250 deds, and full o nthe 95 4runner wit h 0/250 deds and liability on the 72 ford f 100 4x4 , i beleive i have towing and rental car, and non insured motorist also , i get the multiply car discount ( what a sham , i can only drive one at a time, jsut insure me on the most valuble one damnit) and home owners discount , 32 years old , one accident and one ticket ( that they dont know about yet , i beleive)
not bad in my book .
