Same function as a running lamp in your front bumper.

I want to put grenade launchers in mine to take out those who cut me off in traffic.

When I first got the FJ and I would be cruising before dusk when just the running lamps were on, I would get some weird expressions from other drivers and asking about the lights, and the FJ in general, as many had not even seen an FJ before.

I even read over on fjcruiserforums.com that one guy got ticketed by an officer for the lights, and he explained they came from the factory that way.

I think he had to take it to court.

when i first got my fj, i had truckers flashing me all the time , the only thing i could figure was it was the lights in the mirrors.

Personally i think they are the worst part of the truck. Marker lights in the mirror are lame. I would love to see one with a 55-85Watt driving light conversion, or something cool.

I would much rather have seen marker lamps on the side of the vehicle on the front fender that came on and flashed in unison with your turn signals.

Well, actually my friend and I have been contemplating installing the short capsule H3 HID retrofit kit into the mirror or else a small HID projector for cornering lights off road. We to agree they are useless.

http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/hella/micro_de.jsp Something like this wuold be nice, yes it has a 5.5" depth but Even if we made an adapter ring bezel assembly that say was an inch thick. It should facilitate the adoption of this type of light. I think it would be excellent for off road filling the void of light between headlights and take down lights on the sides.

But when in doubt nothing a good ol' ma duece couldn't fix by mounting them in its place.

The only thing that I am worried about with more intense lights.... The heat they put off. Don't know if the mirrors are ready for that heat for bigger lights. I did put bulbs that had 12 LEDs and they were amber... Something happened to one of the bulbs, but they were nice and burned cool. Went back and put 194NA bulbs..... Not as bright!!!
