Here's what the FJ-62 driver, ClemsonCruiser on ih8mud, had to say:

VTcruiser and Myself were fortunate enough to be the TLCA support vehicles for the FJ Cruiser photo shoot at Gray Rock OHV park in Alabama. We spent two days wheeling all over Gray Rock with the new FJ, and I have to say I am highly impressed with the FJ's capability. We were in the muddest and slickest conditions I have ever wheeled in (2" of rain) and the FJ out performed my FJ62 which I consider to be fairly capable with 33's a lift and rear locker. The FJ wheeled as if it was locked front and rear, all I can say is traction control is an amazing thing , also the engine in the FJ was rather impressive too it had so much power, just what you needed to get the tires spinning fast enough to rip through the mud we were in in. I am ashamed to say I found myself stuck 4 times to the FJ's one . So I say to any of you guys worried about the capability of the FJ it is not an issue, it is ready for action. If you guys want pics check out this thread in the South Carolina Club section :http://forum.ih8mud.com/showthread.php?t=78842

These are the TRD wheels and BFG's available as PPO's

Anyone know the specs to those wheels? They would look good on a 3rd gen.

I think the main difference is the traction control, I wheeled with a 4th gen runner and was highly impressed at the ease with which he made it through stuff. A couple obstacles we heard a lot of banging and slamming and saw a lot of wheelspin...on everyone except the 4th gen, he walked right through it like nothing.
I am not sure how I feel about that though. I mean, you mod your truck, tires, gears, lockers, etc, but it is still basically about driving skill and picking the right lines, etc. Once traction control comes in, you hit the gas andlet the truck figure out how to get through the obstacle. Seems like it might be fun for a bit, but it would get old fast.

Exactly what I was thinking too. The ATRAC on my 3rd gen worked awesome this weekend, transferring power from the wheels that spin to the ones that needed it. I got a chance to drive my buddys 93 Bronco though, and I like the startegy of picking the right line, and steering into it better. He had the front locking hubs, and I mad it farther than he did most of the time, but like I said, I would rather have dual ARB lockers over a TRAC system any day. The thing is most people don't know how to drive trucks with lockers, etc. The general public wants something that takes no effort. They want a truck that they will have a hard time getting stuck and is generally easy to drive. Most trucks are going this way nowadays, and it is no suprise the FJ at lest partially takes that route(granted it is way more rugged than half new the trucks out there). Don't know, though, if it were up to me in the design, front and rear SAs, and dual e-lockers, F the trac system, cause you don't need it for offroading. I bet most of these sold won't ever see dirt.

Preaching to the choir, I agree completely. That's why I like what Toyota did with the FJC by giving us an A-TRAC disable button. Still, there have been surprisingly favorable comments about it being more transparent than the 4R A-TRAC version.

Looks like someone along the line didn't like linking. They disappeared from other forums too.

Really? Then they're still in your browser cache. Please do us a favor and right-click, save them all and post them to your photo storage and re-link here. Shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. They were special. Thanks!

Good pics, way better than the "publicity shots" so far seen.
I had it almost out of my mind.
NOW you've gone and got me thinking about it again...

Nice shots. But I think if LC stucked there, FJ will stuck too. LC is a very good off-road vehicle.

By the way, I was wondering regarding FJ performance. As far as I know it is build on 4Runner platform, just 10cm shorter frame. This should mean that it might have the same capabilities as 4th Gen. 4Runner. It has the same engine, front suspension and rear axle. I checked the dimensions, looks the same, except 10cm shorter base and approach/departure angles are better.
