I love the 4.0 in my mom's 05 4runner. Great gas mileage and great power. I like it better than the 3.4

'Tis in another thread here, around June if all goes well.
The only way to get one now the way you want is to order it.
The first batches that show up at the dealers will be loaded.

Ooops...my bad. You guys are right, the ATRAC will shut down the throttle if you're accelerating and the wheels are spinning (somethign I haven't experienced yet, though, in my 4Runner).

However, I believe that if you keep the RPM's low, and at a constant, or if you slowly acelerate, you will ge the ABS portion of the ATRAC working in your favor instead of activating the throttle shut-down command. At least that's how it works on my Runner in the rocks.

Here's a video showing the ATRAC helping me climb some rocks in Death Valley . My Runner footage is 'bout halfway thru... http://www.panamintcharlie.com/echo.html

I can't wait to wheel with an FJC and see how the different ATRAC systems compare. In fact, I can't wait to see an FJC, period!

I saw a few of those pics here in another thread or somewhere.

See the stock black wheels on the silver one?
That is the color (Titanium Metallic) I ordered, but I opted for the alloys seen on the blue one.
A $650 option, but they look pretty good.

I am liking that color all the more, at least part of if it white.

Do you have some links on TTORA to some FJ stuff?

Didn't go out to drive it yesterday, but may get another chance later this week when it is unveiled to the media. We don't thik we had it in 1st, hard to get used to an auto. 1st seems to be all the way back, then over on the shifter. Will let you know how we make out.

Sounds good Twinkie, looking forward to a report and of course more pics to drool over

X, they are 17" wheels, but I am sure many have ran that size instead of the stock 16" ones?

PS, found a link on TTORA to a new section.

The ones I saw were 16" but 17"s would be nicer.

Corey, the alloys on both the blue and yellow FJ's are the optional ($1,895) 16" TRD w/BFG A/T tires and are port installed PPO's. The factory installed optional alloys you spec'd are 17". I went with the factory alloys and am getting a $200 trade allowance for the Bridgestone Dueler H/T's toward Nitto Terra Grapplers A/T's in OEM size from America's Tire Co.

When I talked with some Toyota guys about FJ last December, they said the downhill assist control (DAC) and hill start assist control (HAC) were both deleted because of feedback gleaned from Internet forums like YotaTech and focus groups, and to keep the price down. Originally they weren't going to include skid control (VSC) either, but added it to get the Toyota STAR SUV safety system label.

Twinkie, thanks for the pics and comments.

Thanks Bob.
I will look into a trade in too with my local 'Schwab dealer, or perhaps keep the stock tires for winter and get them mounted on a set of those plain black rims.

But for sure I want to get a set of the TXRs I run now if they are available in 17".

The port side rock rails really come out in this pic.

Got a look at all 11 tonight all cleaned up and under wraps for the night put to bed. Found out the rock rails are not available in Canada yet but Toyota will have a set here for Friday so we get to see at least one set installed. Tomorrow the reporters go to town on them, hope I don't spot them in to any super bad positions. :pat:
