About to buy question

Hey Everyone,

so I am about to join the world of the FJC (hopefully) and had a question. I am looking to get a 2008 mt. My question is does this come standard with the rear diff lock or is that an additional option. According the the dealer it comes standard on all mt's. But according to Toyota's website it is an option included in the upgrade packages.

I would like to just get the convenience package and the rear lock and then add the atrac myself based on what i have read here.

thanks in advance for your help

All manula tranny FJ's are full time 4wd w/ the center diff lock, perhaps that is the locker they are referring to as standard. As far as I can tell the rear locker is optional.

okay so that leads me to another question (or two):

is it possible to install the atrac without the rear locker? and what is the difference between atrac and the traction control that is listed on the dealers info sheet.

sorry for my nube-ishness

atrac puts the breaks on the tire that is spinning when you lose traction

the elocker locks it inside the diff get the elocker and atrac

the atrac helps the front to act like a lsd almost

You must have the rear elocker to do the atrac hack. Cost about $50 for the switch.
