Plate holder built.

Got my light today:


Took a trip down to ACE, got 2 5" 1/4 bolts, 4 urethane washers, 4 flat washers, and 4 1/4 nuts:


Drilled into the tailgate, sealed with 3M weatherstrip adhesive. Bolted with washers and nuts:


Mounted the plate and light:


After a little solder, and cutting an inch or so off the bolts, we have legal light:


Further out:


I like it, it's functional and out of the way. I don't think it looks terrible either...

I guess is someone steals yer tailgate...you'll be able to identify it rather quickly...

You did do the anti-tailgate theft mod, right?

Why 5" bolts? I'll be curious if that rattles or not...maybe you can put the tag in a frame?

better to cut once then have to run back to the hardware store. Been their done that. damn my closets full of those shirts......

Yea, 5" because I wasn't going to ACE a third time...
No rattle so far. No frame, but I might mount a little angle bracket over the light housing.
