T100 newb questions

By no means a newb, but I've got a newb question on the T100.

Looking into other Toyota 4x4 options other than my comfort zone of 79-95 P/Us and 4Runners and found a 97 T100.

Being a 97, it's either a 3RZ or 5VZ, my question is; does this make it a driver drop t-case/ front diff like 4Runners/Taco's with the same?

I don't even know what trans is in this truck, but if it is an auto, I will swap it to a 5spd using a R150F. Just curious about the t-case situation.

Working on a friends T right now, its a floor shifter like the 4Runner/Pickup. I believe it uses the same transfercase from the Pickups and 4Runners as well.

What year is it though?

Im assuming the 93-95s share the typical pass side drop style case and front diff as the pickup/4runner. 95.5-98 I would think would share the driver drop being 3RZ/5VZ, as the Taco and 3rd gen 4Runner.

Dunno, just seems unrealistic for Toyota to change over to driver drop during a phase out of the T100.

Front differential and transfer case are to the passenger side, just like the pickups and early 4runners, even if it has a 3RZ of 5VZ.

Only 2wd T100s came with the 3rzfe, so you dont have to worry about t-case drop side 4x4 T100s have passenger side drop like pre-taco IFS. T100s have pretty much the same IFS, just with more room between the mounting.

Good to hear. Making the whole "if it has an automatic" thing acceptable...5spd swaps are easy as pie in Toyotas. Like I said, only saw pictures of this T100, no info.

So the 3RZ is 2wd T100 only? This pretty much guarantees 5VZ being a 97 then?

Just as additional confirmation...I have a 97 T100 4x4 5-speed. It will have the 5vz and passenger side tcase. And yes, the 3Rz 4 cyls only came in 2WD T100s. Good thing, cause the 4x4s would't even move if they had a 3RZ. Even with the 3.4 thy still aren't that powerful.

Yes...the '95-'98 single cabs are 2WD. The '95 single cab 2WD had 3 engines, 3vze, 3rzfe, or 5vzfe. The '95 was the last year fer the 1-ton which had the V6 (3vze or 5vzfe).

SR5 trim in the single cab was only offered in '93-'94. Base or DX was the only option fer the single cab from '95-'98.

The only real way to sort of tell what engine the single cab had was to look fer the gas refill door. Left side = 3rzfe/5vzfe. Right side = 3vze.

You must be talking about this one...
http://meadville.craigslist.org/cto/2348348009.html

Seems to have some rust issues on the front fenders as well as the door sills. I would ask fer some serious (numerous) piccies before you even think about traveling 5hrs (one way) to look at it.

Piccies to request
Under the truck
Under the tool boxes
Under the hood
Interior
Frame

wow that is cheap. I can't find any in my area right now that seem near that good. Nice ones people are asking 5k or more. I'm looking at one tomorrow but the sheet metal isn't near that nice but the frame looked good shape. 240k miles too. I don't really know how to price such a thing.
