T100 7mgte Engine Swap

Anybody performed a 7mgte swap into a t100? I want to do this as a power upgrade to my 2.7L 4 cylinder 5 speed setup. I can't find anything on the web about fitment and wiring, so help would be helpful...

I would suggest a 5vz over a 7mgte

Why do you suggest that? How much would that cost compared to a 7mgte? Power output of 5vz?

For one the 5VZ is a much more reliable engine which i believe is 190hp and 220ft/lbs where the 7mgte is around 230hp and 250ft/lbs. Also the last year the 7mgte was made was 1992 which to federal law you can't install an older engine into a newer vehicle. Also cost would be about the same for the two, probably more for a 7mgte swap.

if I went with an 7mgte/r154, how hard is it to line everything up for homemade motor mounts?

I decided if I'm going to perform any swap, it's going to be a 7mgte swap....

Well for the early T100s the driveline was essentially the same as the pick-up so the swap "issues" would probably be the same, except you'd have more room to work with. I'd start with looking at any of the other 7MGTE swap threads here.

As for a law about swapping in an older engine I've never heard of that one.

I dont know if the law is federal or state or whatever but I know here in califonia you need to use a motor the same year or newer, cannot be and older one.

I'll check into that, define "early t100" though...

Yea, the law exist and it's federal...but I live in Indiana and they don't give a rat's furry behind, fed's don't seem to either(just the damn hippies).

Anyways, I'm off to more research...might I dare say I'd be the pioneer to swapping a 7mgte into a t100?

"Early T100" the ones that came out before the Tacoma debut... The engine/drivelines were lifted right out of the smaller body pickup... with the taco came the newer engines 2.7/3.4 and a different front end which the T100 did'nt get until the next year when it was called the Tundra as far as I remember.
