Everyone probally knows about this but being I bought my 1993 T100 last July I found on recall list about the steering rod recall, called dealer and my vin hadn't been done so taking in next week, service dept said they change steering rod, check and change tie rod ends if needed, and aline front end all under warranty no charge.

Yes, your previous owner may be the last to know.

When I had the head gasket recall done years ago, the local Toyota dealer gave me a free rental car for a day. Doubt you'd get that now. No such luck on the steering rod recall.

They couldn't break mine free without some intermediate part breaking, so I got that for free too. Now I'm living in salt-free land, so all is good.

Water pump going to couple drips now and then so having them do that and timing belt /water pump at the same time. I asked if they change the idler when they do the timing belt, response was they check it but very seldom see them go bad??? Found out when they checked the recall that the head gasket recall was done in 1998.Does the head gas fix do it for ever and ever or is it a problem spot?

I wouldn't worry about the HG fix. I would DEFINITELY have the water pump and tensioner replaced while it's all apart, especially if you're over 90K or so in mileage. Disregard what the dealer says, because they want to see you soon.

Good, if "no charge" means "dealer cost", or less.

Do both!
Buy this for $87 bucks shipped and tell them to install it! It may cost you a bit more, but it's worth it.
