Door Latch Assembly - replacement

Recently my driver side door latch has loosened. It is securely fastened to the door. It appears there was a rubber coating that has fallen off (I observed a black rubber coating on the passenger side door latch). Has anyone been caused to replace or repair their latch? 97 SR5. The fixed u-shape post is solid and in good shape. Thanks in advance for your response.

The black piece is a plastic piece. Unless you fabricate yer own metal piece...yer left with either buying a new one or gitting it used from a parts yard.

My passenger side door latch assembly is broken and I have to open the door from the inside with a screw driver used to pry the lever at the striker, panel off. If you find out where I can get one used for a 93 manual lock/windows through the web somewhere it would be greatly appreciated.

Try rock auto or carpart.com. I bet one of them would have it...

^^ Hey, cool, thanks for the info; my 93 runner has a bum driver door handle, the nub that the transfer bar snaps into is busted off, the PO had it zip tied. There was a spring missing also, replaced that so the damn thing unlocks ALL the time. The lock would stick and I hate having to crawl out of the passenger side like an idiot.

new OEM door latch is like $100, ouch.

AA that don't surprise me too much. I work at a Toyota dealer and parts at my price still kill me

Those are nice links but they don't seem to have the main latch assembly. I guess what I'm trying to find may not be called the 'latch' but its the actual mechanism that opens and locks the door by attaching to the striker on the inside of the frame body. ..that the inside/outside handles and lock levers attach to via the aluminum rods.
Isn't there a database somewhere on the net that you can search salvage yards for one that has the truck or parts that you are looking for? I can't believe I can't find a T-100 anywhere within a hundred miles and I live in the Portland area. My guess is the salvage yards are selling off their old frames for metal these days
