I really can't even come up with a good reason, but it was cheap ($850) and it's a Toyota truck, good enough for me! Too bad it's 2WD and automatic. It needs rockers, the hard fuel lines on both sides of the filter, and a rear bumper. Hoping to pound out the tailgate since it doesn't seem to have any rust, and people seem to think a good one is worth $350. Timing belt was done at 98k but over 20 years ago, so I'll do that, too (173k) frame is solid. Drives great but the O/D OFF light flashes, and when actually in O/D it wants to go back and forth between O/D and high gear. So I need to learn the trick to run codes on this one. Should keep me busy for a while
running boards were cool at some point but probably ruined the rockers much better look without running boards bumper and hitch are toast underbody sheet metal looks great to me, I was surprised. The dinky running board brackets look homemade rear main seal leak, and yet the oil was overfull hoping to save tonneau and tailgate, tires are like new This confirms it is a 2x4 model crusty fuel lines
Well for 850 screw it, at least you have a lift. But man ooooffff that rust is silly, where is the truck from? But I guess if you’re looking for something to keep you busy looks like you found it!!!!
LOL, maybe I'll opt for some dark blue duct tape and a couple more 2x4's instead of new metal.
Bought through an auction, all I know is it was last titled in Nebraska, not sure how it made it to Wisconsin. It's bad but I was expecting worse tbh!
I haven't tried to figure out what it goes to, any guesses feel free to post! gotta love the hackery tho, the wires are just run/laid along the top of the right fender, then across/behind the grill to the battery if you zoom in on radiator you can see all the seepage around the upper tank. any opinions on radiator repair vs. replace? Actually now that I've seen the preview of my own photo I see what looks like a big crack there, not sure if that can be fixed.
I ended up putting a lot of work into this truck as my son's girlfriend needs a vehicle ASAP. Brake lines, hard fuel lines, fuel pump hanger bracket, radiator, timing belt, water pump, plugs, bumper, tailgate (of a different color) etc.
Near the finish line now (except rust, that stays) and the O/D OFF light is flashing again while driving, as well as a CEL. Now, this truck has BOTH an OBD I and OBD II. The OBD I system doesn't seem to give any codes, but OBD II gives me P0133 and P1700. Focusing first on P1700 as it's trans related #2 speed sensor I pulled the sensor and tested for continuity, reading was around .6 ohms, fluctuating slightly when near a magnet, but it's supposed to be either 0 ohms or infinite. I also noticed that, when trying to plug the wire back into the sensor, it didn't want to plug in, and upon closer inspection they don't really match, so maybe it wasn't all the way plugged in to begin with? See pics, guessing someone just tried to get away with using the wrong sensor?
