97 T100 Overheating after HG repair
Hi All,
Glad to be here...hope someone can really shed some light on my dilema!! Any and all help is appreciated...
Vehicle: 1997 T100 SR5 3.4L V6
Original problem: Blown Head Gasket w/ Hydro-locking as well.
Repairs: Replaced parts listed
Head Gasket Set: Felpro 8213-07022763
Head Bolt Set: Felpro 8213-07022363
Water Pump: Bosch 8213-07099636
Timing Belt: Dayco 8213-07078758
Thermostat: Stant 8213-07044296
Tstat Gasket: Felpro 8213-07020946
Heads had all the work done needed, no cracks, and only had to be shaved 8-1000th"
Since replaced:
Thermostat
Water Temp Sensor
Fan Clutch (was bad and made a big difference but did not completely correct issue)
Truck runs like a champ, still have a small problem overheating.
Truck only overheats when under stress ie: up hill / heavy acceleration.
Runs at normal temp as long as heat is on, fan is turned off, when temp rises turning on fan brings back to normal.
No evidence of:
No burning coolant out of exhaust.
Plugs are dry and clean
No coolant in oil
Radiator has no signs of corrosion
No exhaust gases we can tell of returning to coolant, test for that to be done soon.
I might have forgotten some things but we are at wits end without starting over.
One note, not sure what it is worth we took an infrared heat sensor and checked various areas of the coolant system. All seem to be in range with the thermostat rated temp except for the water inlet (top of the engine large coolant hose?) which was 200+. We can not find anything impeding flow there....I probably forgot something we have done or didn't do but Any ideas/help greatly appreciated.
