wiring harness problem.

Hey there I was wondering if there was any differences in the 81 and 82 wiring harnesses and if so what would those differences be. All my wiring in my 82 got fried and the only one I can find around is from a 81. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1981 and 1982 wiring harnesses are different especially the connector plugs. The dash pod has totally different plugs. If you can get a wire pin removal tool you might be able to transfer the 81 wire ends to the 82 plugs-it is tedious work. The color coding is different in many circuits as well.

You will have a very hard time finding an entire wiring harness for an '82 new. I just tried a few Google searches and came up with nothing.

What exactly do you mean by "fried"? Is the current one salvageable at all?

well it was a bad mistake on my part. i was working on the front end and took the head light bezel out and rested it on the battery and the next time i went to go work on it the bezel piece must of made a connection with the battery and burnt all the wires through out the whole wiring system! it really sucks! so i dont think it can be repaired. if you guys have any thoughts on how i could fix it that would be great!

I don't claim to be an electrician, but I've heard of people doing much worse things than that and they didn't toast their entire wiring harness.

I would wait for one of the resident electrical gurus (paging Roger Brown or xxxtreme) to chime in. They may be able to provide more color on the issue.

Contact Trekker Paul on this WEB site; he might have a good used one. He is located in Oregon but he will ship it to you. If he doesn't have one he might be able to find you one or steer you in the right direction. OH! a 1983 harness would most likely will be the same as your 1982. Another source might be Slacker on this WEB site. He is located in BC, Canada and is a good person to deal with.

I am not good at wiring at all. Maybe someone can point me to the right direction. I have been working on a 79 Toyota pickup. When I first started when I turned on lights the passenger head light would be bright and driver would be dull. So I ran a wire to bright head light to dull and nothing and when I put it on bright only the passenger would be bright. Well I kept messing with it and I honestly don’t know what I fried. My headlight don’t work my park lights do and when I turn switch light to bright neither comes on and when I hold switch back I hear a buzzing and when I “flash” fast the passenger will come on quick and bright and driver dull. I don’t know what I’ve done and I don’t know how to fix it. Never messed with wiring much. Can someone give me some ideas
