Weather on a GPS

I've done some searching on line about this. Basically you use XM radio to obtain a weather signal that shows up on your GPS. Talk about nice! I'd love to see what I was going into when driving home and what not.

Anybody know of some good GPS/weather combos. Garmin makes one, but it also has a lot of stuff that I don't need.

I just found out about this too. Pretty cool!

I believe it's $100 activation and $99/mo. for the XM weather service.

I figured you'd be some one who would be very interested in this, as am I!

If I can get enough money saved to get a few things, then this will be next on the list.

If money was no object, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It's a fairly spendy setup though when you consider the cost of the GPSR, software, and accessories and the subscription on top of it all. I have managed to do pretty well on my overland trips with just WX radio when I can get it, so this would be almost purely for fun. But if I was out on the sea sailing around the world, or flying a plane, I would definitely be into it!

The Garmin 376C looks pretty slick.

my Garmin Rino 130 has weather alert and weather channel selections. THe Rino is a GPS/2 way radio set. I can also send and receive my coordinates to other Rino users. Kind of pricey at $350 from REI.
