trailer tow wiring

Hi:
I am trying to figure out the wiring that isn't working on a 2004 Tacoma quad cab. I can get tail lights, right turn, brakes to work, but no left turn. I have replaced all four fuses behind the rear seat. Why does the left light up when the brakes are applied but not when the left turn signal is blinking? Which of the wires white or brown is the power/neutral on a standard 4 way plug? I am a rookie when it comes to wiring so if anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

Is this the factory trailer towing harness ??

***If it is not a 4 wire flat plug will never work without one of those evil converter boxes.***

as Toyota always uses stand alone turn signals

Most trailers have lights that share the brake and turn signal

If it is the factory one no doubt something is messed up in the converter box

why not just buy one of the plug and play trailer harnesses?
