TPS Sensor , 4 wires to 3

TPS Sensor , 4 wires to 3
Hello all !
I need to replace my throttlebody, can I put a TB that has a 4 pin TPS instead of the original 3 pin one. I would just connect the 3 wires that are the same and leave the 4th wire unhook.
Has anybody done that ? Would it work ??
