Tachometer Retrofit

Greetings All,

I'm wanting to add a tach to my little baseline 93 pickup. In examining wire harnesses (and for that matter the flexi pc board on both styles of inst clusters) - they "appear" identical across the board - both models have 4 molex style connectors and as near as I can see - the same number of active pins and so on....

Question(s) is there a proper clock pulse present in a baselines models wiring harness to allow a simple "swap" of a baseline inst cluster for a deluxe one? - or do I have more work cut out for me? Also, is the gauge calibration internal or external (i/e - can I use a cluster from a v6 model in a 4 banger??)

Any sage advice (preferably from ones that have "done" the work vs those who are armchair dreamers)? And on the subject, would the other gauges function properly (i/e oil pressure vs just the idiot light) or would I need to change the transducer in the block too?

I'll save my air conditioning upgrade questions for now - as in studying "that" it appears the harnesses are different and I will be up for a bit of a challenge...

Cheers!

Jack King

the sr5 cluster swaps right in, problems arise with the oil pressure gauge tho, try searching this site to see what thousands of "arm chair dreamers" have done...
