Spark Plug Issue

Well,
I know anti-seize is suppose to help the spark plugs come out when it is time to change them again...
But I never imagined that the spark plug would decide to just come out on it's own...

When I frst did the plugs everything was fine...
Then about 1500 mile later i started to hear this poping sound from the engine bay...
So I finally went out and looked, and behold, the spark plug boot on the drivers side, rear most, was out of place...
I tried to push it back in but it wouldn't...
So I ended up taking it out and as it came out so did the spark plug!
I put the plug back in just as before and tightened it just slightly mroe then I did before...
Everything seems to be fine untill today
Now another spark plug boot came out this time it was on the middle spark plug on the drivers side...
Same issue...
Fixed it and still everytihng is fine...
What is causeing this...
I am already planning fo rthe front drives side boot to come off next...
Maybe tomorrwo if i have some time and the weather is good I might go around and retighten and make sure everything is right.
But Why are my spark plugs jsut randomly coming out?
There Denso OEM plugs and the spacing was fine...
And I tightened them hand like recommended form everyone...
So What is my problem?
Sorry for the rant style question/post, it is just kinda weird to me...

My first thought is, at least you don't have the opposite problem. Much less fun.

Of course the next question is, did you observe the torque requirements (why do I think you did)?

If the answer to the last question is yes, then I'd try a different anti-seize compound. Another way of saying I don't have a clue.

But I'll be interested in what you find.

Yeah def glad I don't have the opposite problem.
I thought I did, I thought it was recommended you just tighten by hand so taht not to over tighten (which I tend to do with a torque wrench or any wrench, my halnd feels better...)
Thanks for your .02 at least, anything is appreciated!

Also this is another wierd thing
Wouldn't the engine or one of the coil packs throw a CEL?
Like a missfire or soemting since the spark plug is actaully out!?!

Hand tight I would not recommend, especially if you are talking hand tight with the extension only. If not torquing to spec, you need to get them snug and then give them a little extra.

If you search for some of my previous postings, you'll see what happened to me.

In short, you're lucky you caught it!! Mine came out, melted the coil pack, and could have started a nasty underhood fire!! The previous owner overtightened mine, stripping all by 1 thread. To boot, he used Bosch plugs, instead of Denso. Granted, they should fit, but there is an ever slight variation in thread depth/pitch.

In any case, I had to use a Sav-A-Thread insert for mine as I had no threads left. If you have time, and ability, and a spare valve-cover gasket, I would pull the valve cover and do a closer examination of the threads if this keeps happening.

As far as the CEL is concerned, I drove mine for 3 full miles before the CEL went on.

I will search for that thread...
But eww does that sound nasty...
Yeah the intresting is the threads well at least on the plugs look fine and grip good when in...
Also I ended up driving close to 50 miels before realising it whent he first one came out...
The spark plug was still in the sokect just poped out...
I don't know, maybe when I have the money I am thinking the previous owner didn't take care of it as much as i did, it might be time for a engine overhaul...
She runs great but you know there is always room fro improvemnet, and a good cleanin usually dosen't do much harm...

When a plug comes out it is very noticeable. It is very loud...sounds like the engine is falling apart. Did it not come all the way out? Otherwise I would have hoped you would have heard it.

As for the antiseize. As a mechanic I learned a while ago that this is not a good idea for spark plugs.

#1 its conductive. If you put too much on it can get on the tip or electrode causing spark issues. (I saw a melted plug once because of this.

#2 its not really necessary. In the days of cast heads with spark plugs just hanging out in the open you would get rust and cross metal corrosion which could make getting the plugs out a PITA. Nowadays the plugs are in aluminum heads and the spark plug sleeves are sealed from water. As long as change them regularly or atleast check them now and then they should always come out easily.

If it were me I would pull them all out and clean off the antiseize, reinstall, and check after a few miles. If they are loose then you have some thread issues. (or the wrong plugs).

My 2 cents.

I guess I should clarify how out it was...
It was still threaded but only by one thread...
Thats why it wouldn't go in, but coming out the rest of the way was an issue as well...
The noise i head was a very suttle popping noice, like bubbles coming up through water in a fish tank so to speak...
I don't know anymore
there all in and it has already been 200 miles since yesterday when it happen so...
So far so good...
Keep everyone posted of what happens
(curretnyl way to cold for me to even go out and try to touch metal...)

I use a little anti seize on the threads of the spark plugs. might want to try a torque wrench (1/4 or 3/8 not 1/2) and torque them a few pounds under spec(just to make sure you dont overtighten them if the torque wrench is a little off) then tighten them a tiny bit more by hand to feel what it should be set at. i did the same thing a while ago. it feels tight but it isnt.
