I have to wonder who came up with calling the resistor for the injectors(solenoid resistor) or maybe it was Haynes in there manual that started it. It must be HaynesIn a few of my EWD`S it is just labeled a resistor In my 86 FSM EFI section it is called the injector resistor a much better term.
This always is frustrating to me as there is no solenoid in the injector system so how many may have spent hours trying to find the solenoid .
I never really knew where that name had come from till seeing it just now in a thread. Prompted me to do a little looking into it.
How many might Think it is related to the starter solenoid in some way

It serves the same purpose as the resistor that the old Dodges had in the ignition circuit...lower the current. Dodge called it a "ballast resistor".

I know what a resistor does even if it is hidden in a heat sink.
My issue is with the Haynes Manual calling it a solenoid resistor when there is no solenoid in the injector circuit. As Toyota calls it the injector resistor.
Good old Mopar Ballast Resistors encased in a ceramic coating that got brittle so very soon.
