power locks messed

power locks messed

hey i just got my runner going and it's got issues with the power locks. everytime i get out and shut the door it will lock the doors on me. there's a short or something which causes it... not sure where to look. any ideas?

it's a 1992... i put a 1990 engine in it though. but ya there is an aftermarket alarm which i'm gonna rip out. no keyless entry though... any thoughts?

If the aftermarkt stuff is just an alarm then it would have nothing to do with operating the door locks. It could be though that it has that capability you just dont have a remote for it. So I would pull all the aftermarket stuff out and see what it does then.

If that doesnt fix it then you have something wrong with the factory wiring (loose connection most likely). In this case it could be one of the door lock switches, one of the door key switches or the door control relay. I can scan you a copy of the wiring diagram for all that if pulling the aftermarket stuff doesnt work.

My bet is the aftermarket alarm though as the viper alarm on my chevy locks the doors after 5 seconds automatically. I have locked myself out of my truck a few times with it running lol.

thanks. i'm gonna get that out of there when i can. it's been so darn cold here, i haven't been able to do anything i need to do to my truck... sucks.
but when i get that out i'll see what happens.
