no headlights or tail lights

i recently bought a 1979 lwb 4x4 with the 20r and a 4 speed manuel, the problem is the lights wont come on, any of them, head lights, taillights, break lights, dash lights, none of them work and i have no idea what the problem is

Does it start? Have you checked:fuses, ground, wiring for breaks, burnt out bulbs?

starts fine, changed fuses, checked grounds and wires, bulbs are good

Headlight relay? Combination switch? You will need to break out the volt meter and see what you have going on.

Use the FSM link in my sig line and find a manual close to your rig and look in the Body Electrical section.

okay, finally found a broken wire and now the head lights work but break lights and tail lights still dont work

Probably the same issue. Broken wire or bad ground.
