We are putting my son's '88 back together after fixing all the body and frame damage he did from his rear-end shunt. Unfortunately, when he pulled it apart he was not so diligent in labeling all the harnesses and connectors. We've figured all of them out but one. It is a 3 wire harness coming out from under the IM. It has a large 3 terminal GREEN connector on it. There is only one corresponding GREEN connector, but that is over by the coil and we don't remember this harness cutting across the exhaust manifold area, which is the only way it appears to be able to fit. Here is a link to photos of our motor and the harness/connector https://photos.app.goo.gl/v3kRG83zKMpyM4o78 There is also what looks like a factory 2 wire plug that is taped up in about the same location(for some other model option maybe 22-RE TE maybe). Any suggestions would be a big help. This is not our motor. Found this on the web and it shows the wiring going to the green plug over by the coil. I don't think this is the proper routing though.
Yup, that's the correct routing, roughly, for that wire, as well as the correct plug it attaches to.
I always thought it was a bad design, but Toyota didn't ask me.
I'm not sure about the two wire, square plug. I'll go look at my 4Runner later to see what I can find.
