Inclinometer wiring

Inclinometer electrical connector

I found a miracle of a deal (for prices these days at least) for a brand new inclinometer in perfect condition that also matches my blue interior.

I read 4crawlers write ups as well as all the others i could find in here but one thing I am confused about is that folks have said 86-89 4Runners have the electrical connector under the dash pad - not just on SR5 models. I am looking and looking and do not see anything. Am I missing something here? I know I could hard wire it, but I would like to do things as close to factory as possible and would rather not hard wire to cigarette or similar if I don’t have to. Is the connector hidden ? Am I reading wrong?

I have the dash pad and bezel with the cigarette lighter off… no connections are in the vicinity of where the clinometer sits.

even with hardwiring I’m lost, as the 4crawler instructions say to tap into the cigarette lighter back light. Maybe this is an SR5 feature, but my lighter doesn’t have a backlight. Any help would be appreciated.

Ok… on to hard wiring. Looking at my Haynes (I know shoot me it’s not the FSM!!) I am having trouble figuring out which wires to tap into. I think I’m going to use the defogger switch because it dims with the rest of the interior lights. Any help appreciated.
