I have one that I just wired into a set of hot wires in the dash, mine was for a right hand drive and the outer case posed a problem for mounting it. Do you guys up north have the cases for left hand drives?

Its only got a dash light in it, so find a place to tap into that.
on first gen 4runners, there is a plug in the dash waiting to hook it up. they pre-wired for it, like several upgrades... I dont know if 2-gen's have the plug.

When i had my 84 4Runner i added an inclinometer to it, all of the holes are already in the under side of the dash pad, you just need to drill them out. When i hooked up the light i tapped into the wiring for the heater control light.

Wire into a hot wire in the dash and ground it to the same wire that hooks into the heater control light. These ground wires all wire through the rheostat (the lil control knob that controls how bright your dash lights are) .. this way it dims with the rest of the lights.

Hardest part is getting the safety pad off (thats what toyota calls the dash).
