Help with wiring 22r SR5 cluster with MSD components

Hi. First of all thanks in advance for the help. I am having difficulty completing the process and gave been unable to find a writeup where anyone has done this.

I have an 87 pickup 4wd with a 22r. I have an MSD 6a digital already installed and running on my truck. Today, i bought an SR5 gauge cluster which came off of a 22re. Everything on it runs except the tachometer. (I have the tach adapter please keep reading) I changed the oil pressure sensor and all that jazz. I called MSD for help on the install but i was unable to figure it out. I have the 8910EIS tach adapter and I have no idea how to get the unit to work. Has anybody done this and does anybody have some schematics that will help me figure out where to put the SR5 cluster tach wire? That's what I have been unable to figure out. Thanks

well what did MSD say??.

Did you buy this used with no information??

You have no wiring diagram with this adapter.

There should be a tach signal wire coming out of the adapter that should go to the black wire that used to come off the igniter.

which should still be wired right into the cluster plug.

Unless the harness has been cut and spliced with wire nuts.

Then all bets are off.

Good luck!!

Msd said that the wire coming from the unit needs to go into the original control box above the blaster coil but I have no idea where

i see why your having a few problems .:jessica:

This is beyond my ability to describe over the internet. If you were close by I would be glad to help in person.

Since it is quite simple and MSD has great tech support.

I have found several different wiring diagrams showing how this was done.

Good luck:jessica:

I live 50 minutes away from MSD. If I can't figure it out I will drive the truck to MSD.
