Headlights
Guys,
I have searched the forums for an answer. My headlights on a 95 4Runner literally only shine about 10' in front of the vehicle. I found the two sets on adjustment screws on each headlight. After parking the truck in front of the garage door and marking the light, then turning the adjustment screws I get no change at all. So I am assuming the adjustment thing is striped out. Any other suggestions?

Download the FSM (see signature for link) and read under Body Electrical Headlights about the adjuster locations. If these do not move the headlight, you need new headlight mounting buckets or to replace the gears on the adjusters.

Which two screws did you use? There should be one below the light (controls up-down) and one on the inside edge (controls side-side). The other screws are what holds the retaining ring in place and they do nothing.
Might check to see if the little springs are still in place that pull the buckets back to the sheet metal. Basically the adjuster screws push their side of the headlight away from the body and the springs try to pull it back. I was missing one or two springs on my '85 and I found that the headlights would shake with the engine at idle. I picked up some new springs at the local hardware store that fit.

I know at was trying to adjust with the correct screws. I searched the site before posting and found a picture diagram that showed the correct screws to adjust. I will check the springs when I get home from work.

sometimes you can find replacement headlight adjusters in the "help" section of some auto parts stores. the "help" section has a lot of universal parts, and a lot of "universal to a manufacturer" parts, like window cranks, etc. it helps to bring one to match up.
here's a link i found to Dorman auto parts which appears to distribute the Help! line of parts.
