Headlights

Trying to get my headlights wired up right.......... Passenger side works fine, but driver side is quite a bit dimmer on low beams. As for high beams, I have no clue. I thought it could be the wiring but I used my other 80 model as a standard to go by. None of the wire is frayed or cracked, etc. Apart from tracing all the wire back to the harness, the only thing I can think of is that the switch might be bad. I'm down to fumes on this one. Any thoughts or suggestions? Hopefully I'm not the only one who has had to deal with this problem.

See wiring diagram on the page below:

For the dim light, see if you are perhaps hitting both high and low beam filaments (in series) instead of low-common or high-common. Doing so will make for a very dim light since each filament will only have about 6 volts across it. See which pins are getting power. If that is OK, check the voltage at those pins under load:

If low, likely bad wiring some place.

And realize that on Toyotas, the headlights are grounded via the headlight combo switch and they have a common power feed.

Ok, i kind of figured you meant the dimmer switch. I'll take a look at it, I have a spare off my other 80 so if its bad, its no big deal I can swap that in five minutes. Thanks for the info
