88 pickup High beams turning on uncommanded
Hey all,
my 88 pickup was stolen a few months ago and didn’t come back in the same shape she left.
the problem I seem to be having is with my headlights.
while driving (Especially turning) my headlights will switch from low to high beam momentarily and my high beam indicator will come on in the dash. It only lasts for 1 or 2 seconds and goes back to norma.
The problem seems to happen with lights on or off.
All I can think of is my harness is finding a ground that it shouldn’t be?
anyone else ever experience this?? Maybe they ripped apart my steering column and messed with some wires? At a glance I can’t see anything wrong but that doesn’t mean it’s not there.

What other electrical issues? If you know what was put back like poo could be related. When you say they was it a shop that put everything back from the damage?
It happens while turning for sure sounds like a column thing, have you taken the column housing off and taken a look see??

Most likely cause it's the combination switch for your Turn signal/High/Low Beams. Mine would suddenly turn the lights off if I had them on High beam due to a short in the mechanism. There's a small spring and ball contactor at the tip of the switch inside that may need to be cleaned or it may be another wire inside the switch that's loose. See if you can reproduce the problem by wiggling the switch or turning the wheel.
