First of all. I admit I am a newbie. So take it easy on me.
With no experience on DIY installation as well as the time to do it.
I have NO choice but to hire to have auto security installed.

As I read this forum. It says that several layers of auto security is best.
To quote from another forum

I was thinking on this layers of protection....

Kindly post which ULTIMATE COST-EFFECTIVE combination you will have, if you have to hire somebody to do it.
(Pls tell brand, model to be specific.

I am just seeking advice from those more experience than me...

 

The auto bolt and things like that are just going to make a thief even more mad.

They're not going to be able to get inside your vehicle but they will destroy the door, glass or whatever it takes to get inside or get revenge on you.

Keep valuables out of your vehicle or out of sight.

The best thing and probably only thing i'd put in my vehicle is a proximity sensor.

I dont have doors and have tons of stuff people could swipe or steal if they wanted. The only thing i'm having installed is proximity sensor with paging alarm.

If they want my stuff that badly I hope they take it and dont destroy my truck ...

 

ok well i just installed a viper 5901 remote start alarm in my 4runner bc i wanted something that was cost effective and would give me peace of mind. I bought this alarm online brand new with everything for only $230 instead of the cost at most places such as best buy of $600 (best buy no longer sells this alarm) So was my first install of an alarm and was able to do it with a friend of mine but if u get it done just make sure they DO hook up parking lights bc i have talked to several places and most places actually ignore that on certain cars...

The Viper 5901 is a great product and i havnt had any problems... ppl see that blue LED on the front windshield and know not to mess with my car but not only that the LCD screen notifies me within a mile range if someone starts to mess with my truck. There are several benefits to this alarm so it would be better to read up on it a little.

As for the tilt sensors, hood sensors, glass sensors, etc. These are great accessories to add but depending wat ur looking for. I currently have the standard 5901 alarm (which has the hood sensor) but i plan to get the proximity sensor which will warn first then go of if someone is standing too close to my truck for 10+ seconds which most ppl would be bc they are looking in ur windows. Well getting the glass sensor can be beneficial but BE AWARE that this will not work if u have window tint bc the tint changes the frequency of the shatter so it will not function properly.

Well this is just my eperience and wat i have researched in the past and well i hope that this will help somewat in ur search for a cost effective alarm...

I just put my used gun range targets in the back--and so far no problems

 

Do a fuel pump cut off switch or something to prevent someone from actually stealing it.

on my 2001 z28 i installed a bright 10 LED strip under my dash vents and it pulsed with my stock alarm.. didnt stop someone from drilling out the lock on my door at hooters while i was eating just to take my crappy motorolla phone. You just cant predict people. some might see an alarm as a challenge
