Hi Yota Gods,
I have a 2000 SR5 with factory alarm & remote keyless entry, when I unlock my vehicle the alarm goes off. This happens if I try unlocking with the key or the remote. I can turn it off by putting the key in the ignition and powering up.

The passenger door lock was punched into the door, in an attempt to steal it about 3 years ago, and hasn't been fixed. But this is the first time that this problem has happened. Any ideas on how to fix or bypass it? Any help is appreciated.

The dealership was no help, just told me that Toyota didn't install a factory alarm in the 2000 4Runners, and that it must be aftermarket and therefore not their problem.

Just for clarification the alarm system is a Toyota VIP RS3200+.

try putting the alarm into valet mode. I have an owners manual for the alarm at home and can look it up when i get out of work if you cant find anything in the mean time. the alarm wont do anything other than lock and unlock in valet, but at least it will stop going off until you can find whats causing it.

so the alarm still sounds when you unlock in with the key in the door but disarms via the keysense in the ignition correct? does it sound immediately when you hit unlock or turn the key in the door or does it wait for you to open the door? Also check if you turn your key in the drivers door to unlock the second time does it unlock the rest of your doors or just the drivers door?
