Door unlock but won't lock with remote

So I hit the lock button and the car alarm has along has a long beep until I hit the unlock button. The doors do unlock with the remote, but again won't lock. The doors do lock with the key and the toggle button on the drivers door. Any help appreciated.

Door lock actuator? I have heard of a door lock actuator or latch assembly going bad causing that type of problem.

I thought it might be, but it the locks all unlock and lock with the window controls and they all unlcock with the remote. I would think with the actuator it would not work with any. I would think someone would have this problem with the continuous beep when I try to lock the car, but no locking of the doors with the remote. Thanks!

i looks like it is seeing a door is not closed. check your door switches they should be on the body. if one is bad the remote will not lock and have a long beep and the window switch door lock will work.

tacoma or 4runner? I can help you diagnose no problem i just need to know exactly what kind of vehicle you working with. Also what kind of alarm system? If it works with the door lock button and the alarm confirms your pressing the lock with audible feedback then its gonna be a connection.

The long beep on lock from the factory remote means that it's seeing a door open and won't lock the doors so that you don't accidentally lock your remote and keys in the car. Since I'm not at work, I can't look up what the wire colors are and where the door pin switches are. Do you know if it's just the factory keyless set-up or does it have the dealer-installed keyless upgrade system? You can tell if you have the keyless upgrade system if you have that combination led/valet switch mounted in one of the knock-outs on the dash to the left of the steering column.

There are ways to use a process of elimination to figure out which door pin is bad and causing the keyless entry system to see an open door.
