could you do some type of bracket/support thing that goes from one side to the other or front to back under the roof liner? lots of work but it would look sweet, as long as youre short lol

This is true.
I could just see me driving around with two stainless steel bolts sticking out of my roof! haha!

You could always double the bolts up and rig some lights on them though.

Here is where I have mine. Mounted to my overhead shelf, with an external speaker.

This is where I put my CB.

This is how I set mine up.

It might only be temperary. I didn't really have anymore room in my dash to put it so I stuffed it right here. I just used some srcap metal and a drill press.

Passenger side mount.

Drivers side mount.

Bahaha ive been thinking about this for like 3 freakin days!!!

And those bolts through the roof would give me a good excuse to put some KC Daylighters on there

i dont use my ash tray so i have my cb out farther than it has to be, so my ash try opens up a little bit and i use it to put spare change in it. im sure if you lowered the cb just a little or put it farther back your ash tray would work fine.

Mine used to be on the door panel:

Worked great there, but needed to remove it to make room for in-cab cage so now have one of the Cobra 75s behind the driver's side kick panel.
