Tried climbing a hill that had a too steep of an approach angle a little too fast
Stopped me dead in my tracks and bent the crap outa my bumper
the crossmember thing came about a half an inch from destroying my radiator
When I looked at what I did I just wondered what the hell I was thinking

did this about an hour from home. my dad brought his cherokee and smoked his tires in dirt/mud to pull me and a couple hundred pounds of mud out of the hole. then it wouldnt start cause everything was wet. got pissed, took his car to wendys 30 minutes away, came back, and went back to doing hill climbs lol.
Oh yea, thats a 32" tires almost completely submerged, along with water filling up the drivers floorboard, it was awful, but all in all a fun day
EDIT: oh AND i broke off my radio antennae. wheeling without music SUCKS!

Worst wheeling experience was being stuck at evans creek in 2ft of snow for 24hrs and missing thanksgiving, trying to get to the end of the trail but just ended up turning around and back tracking cuz it was getting deeper. When I rolled my 4runner on trail 311 nose first, down hill onto its top then on to the passenger side, it wasnt as bad since i flipped it back over and just let all the oil burn off then kept wheelin lol.

No pics, it was when I was young, dumb, and full of......well you know the rest, I was with my buddy and his truck on 38's at a big fourth of July party at the woodland bottoms in Washington,
I had finished drinking a fifth of Jager
and he was driving me back to my car when I saw some girls and told them I would be right back,
I tried to drive my Honda Civic on 17's with 40 series low pro tires on it down onto the sand
I had to pay some guy 20 bucks to get me out while they all laughed........kidies don't drink and drive even if you are off road.

I guess I'll play also! We were out wheeling in a gravel pit near my house when I decided to see if I could drive across the pond... Well as you can see the answer is NO! Then they all decided to blast mud at my Runner before they hooked up and pulled me out.... Those are 33x12.5 MTs almost submerged. There are many more, but this is the only one with a picture!
Good times, good times!

Took me a while to get all the water out... It was just my wife and I, about 2-3am on an april evening in Maine... we ended up spending the night trailside... we waded out of this mess, and I instantly started looking for firewood, 5 min after I got the fire goin, it started raining... ya know... that cold 33* maine spring rain... One of the coldest nights of my life!! If I hadnt got the fire going, we prolly woulda died of hypothermia!
My old lady gets out of the truck now before we hit any deep water.... lol

sure, why not...
went out to gw forest with a friend in december. about an inch of packed snow on the trail, and not the best tires for off-road, but whatever, they worked well enough at the beach. i picked a trail that went straight through, and came out on the other side. so i started out. easy. nothing too steep, nothing too deep, nothing 4-low couldn't handle. then i got towards the end of the trail, and it started going up. aaand up it went, along the side of a slope. well, it was at this point i realized a few things: i needed bigger tires with more aggressive tread, i needed (a) locker(s), and i better turn around before i break my dad's truck. well, packed snow and my tires did not play well, and i ended up getting sideways between a stump and tree. i managed to turn around, but not without destroying every light under the bumper. so now i'll stick to trails i know

and then there's the volvo-incident, but it's not really off-road. i'll just leave it at: volvo sedans should not be out in the snow. ever.

I was cruising on the beach and ran into some deep sticky mud. Who knew there was mud like this on the beach? I sunk up to the frame almost instantly. The best part is that the tide was out when I managed to get stuck and began to come around my truck. I knew that the water wouldn't make it in my truck, but my escape route back to the hard road was becoming more blocked off by the tide the more I sat there. I had to call a redneck towing company out and pay the dude 200 bones to get me out. Then I had to drive through the ocean once I was out to get back. I was following the dude in the wrecker with super swampers though.
It made for a good family picture though and since it was close to Christmas it went with the Christmas cards we sent out.

It was originally in the "dumbest thing you've done offroad thread".

Later it got it's own thread, and some exposure in the April 2011 issue of PETERSEN'S 4WHEEL & OFF-ROAD magazine.
