I am building my 85 4Runner to be able to drive 75 - 80 down the highway a hundred miles or so and go Rockcrawling all day, and drive home.

Right now i'm building the motor. I have a fully assembled short block in my garage .020 over. All new stuff from Engnbldr, including 268 Cam and O/S Valves & other goodies...

Planned other mods:

35" KM2's W/ 15" Black Steelies
5.29 Yukon Gears
4-5" Susp lift (Maybe chevies out back & marlin up front)
Hy-steer
Custom BALANCED HD Drivelines
Aussie locker out back
? Up Front (ARB would be nice but way too much $)
2" BL
2" Gastank / Drivetrain Lift
2" BudBuilt lifted Crossmember/Skidplate
Armor (Front, Back, Sliders, Skidplate)
Bigger/Better brakes
Roll Cage (Internal)
Full Exhaust
Intake Mods???
Adj. Cam Gear

And last but def. not least.....

Transfercase 4.7 Gears (Or maybe Duals W/ a 4.7 gear set, a stock gear set & twin sticks)

Winch
Lights
Longfields
86+ Rear End
Custom spare carrier
5-Point Seats

It is going to be SICK!!!

Me, I just want a fully capable mall crawler

I'm thinking:
1''-2'' Body Lift and/or BJS with AAL and Shackels or Zuk Mod
4.88s with rear air locker running 33's
Budbuilt Tcase Crossmenber and Skids
Drive-Train Lift
Armor
Sliders with kickstand
Front Tube Bumper with winch and Lights
Rear Tube Bumper with Custom Spare Tire Carrier
Dual Cases
Weber Carb
EngBldr 261 Cam
Roof Rack

and more to come as i think of them......

Voted for "Some serous rock crawling while still driving the rig daily driver"

I really don't have any end goals for my Tacoma. I mean, I was bashing rocks on 31's with stock skid plates, sliders and a rear locker. Now that I have a little lift 33's, beefy skids, bobbed bed, beefy bumpers, gears and lockers front/ Rear.. There ain't much else for me to do.. I'm going 35's hear soon, and will be hacking the hell out of my firewall tl fit em, no body lift. I've heard that other people break crap with 35's.. And of course after my crawl ratio is taxed enough, I'll have a crawl box. So really in my world, it's an ever evolving progression. I think eventually though, it will be a sased beast on 37's- 39's and not too street friendly. Though by then I'm sure I'll have another daily driver.
One good thing about still being on relitively small tars, it's easy to find a challenging trail within 90 miles of my house. Course, if I wanna go crazy I just hit da hammers, 142 miles from my doorstep (2 hours )

Other....

I have 3 of these things, and different plans for each...

the 93, I will prolly keep this one mostly stock, and as a dd, eventually I will pass it on to my oldest to keep as a dd....

the 94, this one may get a slight lift(prolly body lift to make repairs a bit easier) and deff a locker in the rear, it wont be for serious off-roading, but will b capable enough to get the family to ou favorite remote wilderness camping area, will remain a dd prolly for the wife, and eventually get handed down to my youngest son to keep as a dd.

the 91 p/u.... this one already has a 3" body lift, a locker in the rear, and a couple othe goodies, I mainly use this as my skidder for fire wood, and I do drive it on the highway on occasion, I will polly fix this one up to look a bit nicer, maybe add some rock sliders, a locked solid axle in the front, and 35's.... this is my hunting rig as well, so it will need to be capable of making thru some pretty serious terrain...it does pretty well now as is on 31's at the moment..I have a set of 4 tire chains too, so if it does get a little iffy, I pop those puppies on and keep goin..... id like to not have to use chains to get there tho....

Thats it for now...I'm sure I will add another yota or to the collection soon enough tho....

well the '86 is getting sold....

the '92 4runner is going to become an expedition rig!

bumpers front and rear
snorkel
Bigger motor, (wanna go 3.4 but i want better mileage and more power without SC'ing it)
Elocked rear
manual hubs on the front.
probably aussie in the front
nice set of skids.
on board air.
geared to 5.29 or 5.71
35's
probably a 2" body lift to help with the motor swap.
3rd gen scoop grafted onto the 2nd gen hood, just cuz it looks cool
custom rock sliders to protect, and help people get in the big bastard.
throaty, deep exhaust.
Blazeland LT in the front

for right now that's all i can think of..lol

although if i got another dodge diesel, this thing would get sent on down the road...and a ext cab 3rd gen pickup would be bought..with LT and 4wd

Pre-Runner/Daily Driver is what I voted

The desert terrain my family and I encounter is mostly washes and some small hill climbs so that is all my truck needs to handle.

End product will have:
Cut out rear cab to add 2 Seats
Batch Racing Long Travel IFS
Deaver Packs in the rear (maintaining Spring Under Axle)
Aussie Locker'd Rear
Roll Cage
Budbuilt skid under the front
Glassworks Unlimited Fiberglass all around (http://glassworksunlimited.com/19to19todkit.html)

That will be the life!

Good light duty towing rig. Working on that right now with the engine rebuild. I might possibly do a little lift to get her up taller, or air suspension in the rear. It's pretty much my daily driver as well now since my brother is getting the Civic.

Something that gets me from Point A to Point B, with some minor offroading in the middle.

I voted other. Here is a couple of reasons why.

-I want a good looking clean truck, but a small ding or dent here or there doesn't bother me.
-I love heat in the winter, so all doors and windows must remain intact.
-The interior needs to be comfortable.
-I'm not doing any "extreme" crawling, but I do want to be able to go where I want it to, including highway trips

Well, these are my reasons for other, a capable truck, that can be driven daily with little to no issues, that means no heavy duty crawling.

I got my 94 where I want it. I need to pull the flatbed, sliders, and front bumper off to give it a fresh coat of paint.
As for my 82, I want to restore it back to stock minus the rim which will be RockCrawler and put 31/s all around/

Goals

Setup for serious snow wheelin' and maybe a little rock serious trail wheelin', not a DD. Almost a trailer queen, cause you can't have a good wheeler and expect it to drive like a car.

I think the 'final goal' will probably have something to do with a major breakage or rollover that forces me to abandon the rig as a DD. I like letting the rig build itself as I wheel it harder and wear out parts.
But if I have it my way it'll stay a functional utility vehicle. Don't really wanna buy an F250 just to get my Toyota to the trail. It's a longbed and I love being able to park out somewhere at a trailhead and sprawl out under the stars before a day of wheelin. Bobbing the bed seems like a lot of sacrifice, not to mention silly while I'm still running IFS.
Would looooove to get my hands on that Blazeland Long Travel kit though. Running trails with two tires full time airborne is fun and all, but...

Well you can see my rig in my sig. It's my daily driver and camping hunting trail rig. My goal is not yet clear past just getting more parts. This year I would like to get both bumpers put on and rock sliders all tubing. Eventualy get a 4" lift to replace my 2.5" and then go with a detroit true-trac in the front. Long term I plan on going with a long travel front end to get up to 6" of lift with the drop bracket to fit 35's.

I have a tinkering addiction so it will probably never realy be done I like to learn and turn wrenches so this will be my project for as long as it holds my attention..
