What is your final goal with your Toyota?

Many of us here have different goals for our Toyota trucks/SUVs.
Some want just a dependable daily driver to get them back and forth to work, while others at the extreme end want both a daily driver and a weekend warrior to tackle anything any trail can throw at them short of building an all out buggy just for hardcore action.

My goal with my rig since it is my only rig (until I buy a house which is not far off) is to have it dependable as a daily driver since I have to commute in it daily to work, and also to have it handle some light trails when the urge hits me to get out and seek fresh air and friends while exploring the mountains.

I will move up to 33" tires before to long, but I will not go any bigger than that.
My rig is almost complete except for a dual battery setup, snorkel, and of course the never ending upgrading of the tunes department.
A rear bumper will replace the stocker when I see one that I really like.

I am trying to setup my rig as a Safari/Excursion type of rig more than a rock crawler.
I want to take trips in it cross state and be comfortable on the highways getting there.
I enjoy seeing all the threads here over the past 5 years (lotta history here) of rock crawling, forest service roads/lights trails <-(my favorite) and others.

The dual battery setup will further enhance the ARB fridge I bought, and a snorkel will help cut down on the ingesting of dust while exploring places, and the occasional stream crossings.

So lets hear what type of a rig your are trying to achieve.

Keeping it together long enough to get my other one together!

(While mercilessly abusing it, of course)

Other.

I have a 2007 Taco, it's three months old.

It's a work truck. I pull a trailer or haul or push snow 99% of the time. I need to keep it low, so adding a lift kit doesn't make sense for me. But still, I want it to look good as long as possible.

Simple mods so far include trailer hitch and extra chrome.

I'll add plow mounts, sunroof, and removable cap this summer.

That'll probably be it .

Keeping it running until I can upgrade to a 2000+ Tacoma that will work better as a daily driver.

I put in for Other.

I use my truck for a variety of tasks, so I need it to be usable for them. I'm not into the rock crawling thing, but I do like having a good trail rig.

I use it to fetch firewood, go camping or trail riding, and to have reliable tranportation in the winter time. My mods toward these ends, so far, include:

3.4 swap with induction kit, and Trueflow filter
275 BFG AT/KO tires on 16" Tacoma rims
SnugTop topper that spends as much time on as off
Good Tunage (not killer, but fine for a truck)

My plans, as of now:

Install E-Locker this summer (I have the parts from my 3.4 donor)
Zuk rear spring mod
Re-paint, before body cancer has a chance to take a bad hold
Line-X the bed
Fab up Front and Rear Bumpers, and Sliders
Bilsteins all around (Heckethorns are pretty close to done)

I am between two of your options. I like doing some harder trails, but I also want to be able to do safari style trips and be comfortable.

I have a lot of work to do to my rig before it becomes good as a safari rig. I have a lacking 22re, no AC, and it isn't that comfortable to ride in as of yet.

Time will only tell if I keep up this dual purpose rig or if I build this one for serious trails and get a newer Tacoma for the safari style trips!

I went with Safari/daily driver...
My main use is as a daily driver but I want it to be the sort of vehicle that is ready for anything anytime... never get stuck in winter or weather...
I might take it camping this summer if I can find the time...

snorkel
33's
lockers front and rear
4.88's

then we'll see what I want after that stuff gets done

On my 88' the final goal is to have a "mall crawler" that's my DD,that can tow my motorcycle to and from the trails,I can camp in and still look mean doing it,as well as be a recovery vehicle for stranded motorists.
In Process:4:88 gears
Future:33"cooper STTs,2-3" bl lift,RB motor mount lift (2"),Bud Built crossmember/skid plate with drive train lift(2"),Front Range Offroad front bumper with a cheap winch installed.Trail gear rock sliders,Marlin crawler rear bumper.
For the 87' (SilverDeath) I want an offroad vehicle that I can do as I please in. If it gets scratched or dented it's ok. It will be a toy and treated as such.
It must still be street legal.
IN PROCESS:All Pro Crossmember/skid plate/e-brake,with dual transfercases,4.88s with a detroit in the rear.
Future:Soft top(make or buy),Marlin crawler rear bumper,35x12.50 Cooper STTs?,rock lights,pirate flag,half doors.

Mine is a d/d also with just a few mods to date which were more out of neccesity than anything. The laundry list of things "needing" to be done is long and all of those need to be accomplished before I start to build it. When I do it will be as a safari type rig.

Future mods include:
2" BL
32X11.50 BFG AT's
Front and Rear bumpers
Warn winch
Lockers front and rear
Roof rack
Snorkel
Complete new interior
Lots of lights

My 97 will be a 100% bone stock rig. I'm just going to keep it clean. No mods. Been there, done that. I think the stock style is a thing of beauty.

My 88 is already set up for the rocks. I'm going to install OBA and some more body armor.

I want it all....

Not so much a daily driver now, but it could be.

Mild rock crawling.

A bit of the quick stuff.

And something to camp in.

Baiscally, it needs to be better than a stock Rubicon.
