What Was Your Best Wrecking Yard/Swap Meet Find?

Thought this might be an interesting thread to post up. I just returned from my trip to SoCal. When I go to visit my Dad, we always go out to the local Swap Meet. I invaribly find some interesting items but this time, I fould something I can really use on my 4runner.

Seems as I was wandering the rows of "treasures", I spied what looked to be JDM tail lights for a 3rd Gen 4runner. Sure enough, as I got closer I could tell that was exactly what they were. They were almost brand new and even had the wire harness including the body panel rubber plugs. I asked the guy, "what do you want for the tails?" He calmly said "Ten bucks." Knowing what I had paid for my current set of JDM tails off eBay(plus shipping), I tried to remain calm and slowly pulled out a crisp $10 bill and handed it to him. I was very happy with my purchase.

What I didn't know at the time I would discover only the other day as I was going to remove the harness and bulbs to install the new tails. Only thing was when I removed the stop lamp plug I noticed that there were not regular 7443, they were 7443 LED bulbs! The turn signal lamps were also LED 7440bulbs!

So what was your best find?

wow, i wonder where he got the lights in the first place...great deal.

my best find was a minibike i paid $100 for, it was brand new (LOL literally brand new) it had a broken ripcord...okay, go home, put in ripcord...shes not gettin spark...checked everything...magneto, flywheel, wires, everything. tore it apart, rebuild kit was 100...instead for 200 i got myself a 200 cc engine, a 4spd assymbley from a gokart i had lying around, i converted to a hand clutch with the help of old ford ranger brake lines and a bicycle hand brake...

so for 300 bucks, i got a 200cc motorcycle with a 4spd. it flies too ima tellin.

Best find was right here on Yotatech, bought a 2000 4Runner, 111k miles for $1200. It needs some minor repairs but the body, interior, motor are in great shape. It needs a starter, shift solenoids, timing belt and possibly a transfer case.

Can't seem to find the thread.
