Congrats... how about spending a couple hundred bucks to tune up your rig and get it running in tip top shape before you park it and put the rest into an account so your not a broke college student. I know about 6 months after graduating I was wishing I had all the money back that I spent on beer and useless stuff.

bank it in a high interest account like ING DIRECT . Let your money build while your truck sits.

no I don't work for them

This is great advice – bank it now, let it earn interest while you’re away. There isn’t much use to spending it on a truck you won’t be using for a while - and when you get back you’ll have even more to spend on the truck

Interest rates and CD rates are so crappy right now you're better off burying the money in a jar in your backyard.

okie don't do that to the young man-he still has aspirations and dreams....

the sky is not falling. The economy is cyclical and appears to be rebounding.

Good interest rates are out there. CD rates are crappy yes. Other financial vehicles are more liquid and pay better.

Robatt now that you have your savings and checking set up you will see they pay a very low rate of interest.

Several internet banks allow you to move funds back and forth from your account to theirs to earn a significantly better interest rate. Like 5-6x better.

You won't be getting rich no- but you'll be earning decent coin to at least keep you up with inflation of prices.

"Burying" (or just hoarding cash) your money earns you nothing, opens it up to theft and or fraud, and does nothing for peace of mind.

Spend some of course and have some fun that Tofer knows what he is talking bout and yes I would jump all over GE stock right now my gut says VSU 4 Runnin is also correct.

You could potentially be quite wealthy in a few years with a good helping of GE allowed to grow over the next 20-25 years.

or not.
