Truck tires are measured differently than "passenger" tires.

Truck tires:
Height x width - rim size
For instance: 33x10.50-15 is 33" tall, 10.5" wide and goes on a 15" rim

Much easier than that metric aspect ratio crap!

there are plenty of sites that have a calculator to get the dimensions of the tire based off of the metric format e.g. 285/75/16 sometimes written as 285/75r16

You will usually only see it as 33" on a 15" wheel size. Most 16" tire sizes will use the metric designation.

Or how about you just read the specs on a tire you are interested in, like the BFG AT at Tire Rack:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...215QR5ATAKORWL

or on the BFG website:

Never seen a 33" tire listed?!!
You might enjoy picking up a couple copies of some old fashioned "print" magazines.
Look at all the tire ads.
Look at all the neat stuff.
Read some cool articles, or at least check out the pictures.
33" tires are as common as houses.... :pat:
