toyota motor in a delorean

i i am thinking of buying a delorean from my stepdad that has a blown engine, he is selling it to me for 800 bucks. i just need to pick it up from reno, somehow. has anyone ever dropped a 22r or a 22re or maybe even a supra v6 in one? is it even possible?

Should be pretty easy. The whole thing is hand built, so fab work should(in theory) be pretty simple.

yeah, in theory. all ive ever fabbed is a 650cc street bike engine onto a 350 3wheeler frame... haha. i think the yota motor on the del would be a bit different... or would anyone reccomend just having the engine rebuilt of DMC of texas or LA?

LA, all the way, that's close enough to Vegas. I think they can even do Turbos and stuff there too. Can you imagine, a Turbo DeLorean?

Yeah, but they didn't weigh THAT much. I think only like 2200pounds. I think the 351Windsor is a common swap for these cars. Now supercharge that, and you might just go Back to the Future.

That thing has a body lift from Hell!!! Look at those gap guards under the door. I wonder what that guy did for gears on that thing... Probably swapped out the axles, I can imagine.

now while i think its a good idea to keep a del as original as possible while giving it your personal touch, that offroad del is something thats just awesome

Yes, awesome, indeed. Now you have to build a 1000+ horsepower Del, so you can show that guy up.

Don't forget his paycheck, too!!! That wouldn't hurt the cause either.

Yeah, It's probably REAL thirsty. Maybe not that bad, though... I bet it gets at least like 11-13GPM(thats GPM, not MPG) . I saw someone put an RX-7 rotary engine in their Del, now there's an Idea.
