Tow Rig and Trailer (Post Pictures)

Hi all, I have recently been looking into getting a vehicle trailer for my '80 first gen to haul it to and from the trails. I searched the fourm and nothing came up on this topic (hope I am not duplicating another thread.) Thought it would be fun to post up what you use as your tow rig and what type of trailer you use to tote your trail rig around. Please post pics and any specs you want.

Heres a funny story from the ride home from a snow run..Truck could not make the driveway in 4wd(summer tires, does not really get driven in the winter) , when I put the brakes on we started sliding backwards, slid back about 10 feet and jacknifed the trailer into a stone wall. Unhooked the truck and with my girlfriends driving, and me sanding/pushing the ford, managed to get it up the hill. Then drove the blue truck of the front/side of the trailer with about 2psi in the front tires, then dragged the trailer out. What an ordeal. Thought we were home then had to spend 45 min dealing with this. This is the literally the end of my drive way, and its around 2 below zero out....Haha.

Hello Rattlewagon. Your trailer is very nice. Is that a gooseneck? How much is that kind of trailer? I want to buy that kind of equipment for my hauling business.

If your in the hauling business and your asking about a trailer on a toyota website you need to get out of the business, or it's a spammich.

And yea it's totally a gooseneck.......WOW!!!!

'87 deathtrap, thanks for playing. I am a chevy guy too. How does the silverado pull? If you don't mind can you share the specs on the homebuilt '16 footer you built? That's very similar to the look I am keeping my eyes open for.

It pulls great. I typically tow around 70-75mph and haven't had any issues yet. It has to work a little harder on the big hills than some of my buddies trucks with diesels, but that's to be expected.

The trailer is 16x6ft with about a 20" deckheight. 7" I-beam frame with 3/16" angle iron crossmembers on 18" centers. Douglas fir deck. Axles are 3500lbs each. Weighs 1600lbs total. The front 4' of the deck is dovenosed for tighter turning ability. Fenders are Tractor Supply cheapos that are mounted to be removable, since my 4Runner is wider than the trailer it rides on.

I think its a 20" deck. Its a equipment trailer my step dad uses for his business. Its definitely over kill for my truck.
