Tire questions
My 91 4runner is getting a complete face lift/makeover...new paint. Flat olive drab on the body and all chrome and wheels are getting painted flat black. As soon as she gets out of the paint shop hopefully next monday she gets a SAS, 4 inch lift in the front and 5 in the rear, 5.29 gears and detroit lockers front and rear, dual transfer case, new gas tank, and new driveshaft. I'm sure I'm missing some things.
Anyway, I am currently at my budget and as far as tires go I am wondering if my 33x9.50 BF goodrich all terrains are gonna look crappy with that much lift and if they are going to be extremely top heavy?
Anything will help. Thanks.

No, not any more horrible than any other 33's would be. I find the width to be more a choice of personal taste in appearance or for function if you go through tacky mud or water the skinnier tire gives less resistance, if you're going in snow, sand or rock I think the wider tire would be preferred. But that's just my personal opinion of what tires seem to do best for what purpose from what I've observed over the years.
Edit: I know I didn't say that clearly & concisely but I just woke up & I'm having trouble hitting the nail on the head (no coffee yet) I'm sure it's somewhat legible even if it is 'the long way 'round the barn"

Yes, it's gonna look kinda silly, and you won't be gaining any clearance under the diffs (and thereby any offroad capability).
I would look at the list of the mods and see what you could put off in favor of getting taller tires. (like the dual cases)

What exactly is the purpose of dual cases? I'm not entirely clear on that. I might be stuck with them. I think they have been ordered already. Oh and also, if I run say a 36 or 37 inch tire will the stock axles in the 85 housing been to weak?

dude you don't have to be a dick! I'm not doing the SAS myself because I don't have the right tools to do the work (i just moved here from ohio and didn't bring anything with me or welding equipment either)...I am pretty mechanically inclined but haven't done any welding. And who the hell does a SAS and doesn't use it offroad. Common man. Just asking some questions.

Thanks for the info. I'm in Greeley. I would love to go. I need someone to show me some sweet trails. Everything should be done march 1st. Is there anywhere to go during this time of the year? My friend just bought a book with like 45 trails of northern colorado. Some of them sound fun.

Dual cases are two cases run in series. You can run the front in high or low and the rear in high or low. I believe the gears between case one and case two are different but like TC stated, it is to get a lower 4low.
As for 33's on your ride, and I agree with TC. Figure out what your priorities are. 33's are not going to be the best size for you.

yeah I apologize. I didn't order dual cases. I understand what they are used for now and it sure would be nice to have them. But I am way over budget already. I'm hoping soon that I can get bigger tires and different wheels.
What offset should I look for on new wheels (I would like to run 35x12.50x15 for tires) and where is a good place to find cheap wheels and tires? I have looked on ebay and on here a little bit. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.
