towing capabilities 94 22re

just curious if anyone might have input on my 94 4wd 22re's ability (or inability) to haul a 64 falcon sedan on a trailer. It'd be about 450 miles, and 3 passes (seattle to missoula)...aside from the road hazards of winter driving, would it be a bad idea to tow that much weight? thanks for feedback

I would not dream of doing it with an auto, stick, you will need a clutch. When? I don't know. I would also plan on two days to get there, plus repair days, weeks.

Dont even think about it, you need a fullsize truck for that kinda load.

I would not recommend it..... but......

I towed a friend home 50 miles in a 77 ford 1/2 ton. Truck never gave me any troubles. Leave it to him to go on a road trip and have his clutch give out.

Still, i wouldn't recommend it

As I said in another thread, I towed a 16 foot fiberglass boat, with an 80 horse outboard, about 150 miles from where I bought it. I did 55 the whole way. On blown piston rings. I wasnt winning any speed contests, and it def messed with the clutch. But I just kept using the truck to tow it around all summer to river and back. It did fine in my opinion, altho motor finally started smoking too bad and had to be replaced, and pressure plate had a big crack in it. So it would do it im sure, but I wouldnt reccomend it.

yea i wouldn't do it my 3.0 will barely tow a 2 place snowmobile trailer loaded up with 4 dirt bikes and all the gear and gas and tools in the bed. on a flat you'd be ok just like mine is but once you get to a hill your a goner for sure and i know in montana your going to see some nice sized hills mine will do barely 50 up a hill with that load. i don't know if your familiar with island park and ashton hill but to get to island park you have to go up the hill roughly 10-15 miles and it i swear is straight up and i had it in 3 or 2 gear the whole time doing about 25-30 mph with my family's motorcycles and 4wheelers.

I once towed a 1987 4Runner with my 1986 4Runner on a 1600lb trailer. Never again. Most dangerous thing I have ever done.

Its one of the major reasons I purchased a 99 Ram 2500. Toyota mini-trucks just aren't set up to haul much. At all.

I've towed a boat with my truck, I've towed a Ford F-350 Diesel with it, and alot of other things as well, just be careful on the clutch, and put the truck in 2Low if you need a boost taking off.. For about 5 years my brother would tow a trailer and two cars on the trailer down to Waynoka, Ok every six months with the Taco before he passed, I now own that truck and theres nothing wrong with it so.. while I would say do it every day, its not that big of a deal really.
