Time to replace my winch cable??

yes this sucks i have had my winch for only 5 months and have already ruined the cable. i have used it only 9 times and this last time used it I had to go over a huge rock because i left my snatch block in my friends truck. well with about 6000 lb on pressure on the cable while going over the rock all the soft clothing and jackets i had wasnt enought to keep the cable from splitting. my question is can i replace it with cable or rope without taking arb bumper off my 91 toy. I am hoping to just remove roller fairlead and unscrew the cable and intall new one. can anyone verify this for me. I havent even unspooled the cable yet i guess i could answer this myself but my truck isnt here and was just curiious?? Thanks in advance

you dont have to pull your bumper off.......all that holds that cable on is a small phillips head screw....I suggest going to rope

Here is how to replace a winchline, and it happens to be an ARB bumper, mine.

This info applies to a '91 too.
